Art Therapy

Art Therapy: is ‘A form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.” (British Association of Art Therapists.) It is increasingly understood that mental wellbeing cannot be separated from physical health and quality of living. A transpersonal approach is holistic, conceiving health as a dynamic interplay of embodiment. emotions, thoughts, creativity and spiritual beliefs and practices. Through art making we come into a relationship with our own creative potential which has the power to shape and change us.

“Therapeutic effectiveness comes not so much from empathy as from the creation of a transitional space of experience in which the client can let go of their habitual defence, and recreate themselves as if for the first time through playing and art-making.”
